Social code for cleaning industry

30 mei 2011 - The lowest price will no longer be the sole consideration for major clients such as Schiphol, Netherlands Railways (NS) and Erasmus MC when it comes to engaging a cleaning company. From now on social aspects will also play an important role. Last year cleaners took part in strikes lasting several weeks with the aim of improving their working conditions and earlier this year trade unions called on clients to take social aspects into consideration more when choosing a cleaning company.

The Code of Responsible Market Behaviour was presented to Henk Kamp, Dutch Minister of Social Affairs, on 25 May. Clients are promising to bear social aspects in mind and, from now on, quality of work and the working conditions of cleaners will also play a role in the choices they make.

Hago Next

Since the beginning of this year, Vebego subsidiary Hago has been offering a social and sustainable alternative for the cleaning market. Hago Next is a ‘fair cleaning’ initiative that places the focus on the cleaner and on expertise. This fits in perfectly with the social code that has been signed.
