Assist Zorgondersteuning (Care Support) now also active in mental healthcare

09 jun 2011 - On Tuesday, 24 May, Delta Psychiatrisch Centrum (Psychiatric Centre) and Assist Zorgondersteuning signed a contract for the deployment of care assistants in the new Delta Zorgboulevard mental healthcare facility in Rotterdam-Zuid. The signing ceremony was held at Delta Psychiatrisch Centrum in Portugaal.

Assist Zorgondersteuning will handle the planning and execution of domestic and basic care duties in the care institution, with a view to organizing and implementing care support processes on the nursing wards in a warm and friendly fashion. One specially trained Assist worker will be responsible for all care support and facility tasks on the ward, enabling nurses to focus all their attention on their nursing duties. The facility provides an Emergency Psychiatric Help ward, time-limited treatment, a large outpatient clinic and 88 clinical treatment spaces.

“This will raise our clients’ perception of quality to a higher level and will also help reduce the workload on our care personnel. The whole package will make the facility a better place for our clients to stay in and a better work environment. The fact that this concept can also be realized in a mental healthcare facility is unique”, says Paul van Heugten, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delta Psychiatrisch Centrum.

Erik Vrijhoeven, Business Unit Manager at Assist Zorgondersteuning: “Many care institutions are currently suffering from a shortage of care personnel. Due to the liberalization of the care market, a distinctive profile and patient satisfaction have an increasingly important role to play. Branching out into mental healthcare with this contract fits perfectly with our ambition and growth strategy within the care sector.”
