With revenue of 964 million euros in 2010, Vebego is currently one of the largest family companies in the Netherlands. Over the past 35 years its workforce has grown from 3,000 to 38,000 employees. Vebego is active in particular in the areas of facility services, HR services, healthcare and products & systems. Cleaning company Hago and employment agency Tènce! are well-known subsidiaries.

First steps abroad

Under the guidance of Ton Goedmakers, the original cleaning company Hago developed into the multinational organization Vebego. It took its first steps outside the Netherlands in Switzerland. Following a tip from a supplier, Ton Goedmakers bought a cleaning company in the space of one weekend. “We actually paid too much for it”, he says. “But they were great guys. I worked together with them for a further ten years.” Vebego Services is now one of the biggest companies in Switzerland. After the venture into the Swiss market, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom and France soon followed. Ton Goedmakers was also involved from the outset in the development of Assist, services in the healthcare sector, Vebego Public Private Alliances, services with sheltered employment organizations, and the establishment of the Vebego Foundation.

Vebego remains a family company

Ton Goedmakers had already passed on the role of chairman to his brother Ronald in 2004. And he has no concerns about the future: “I am leaving the Board of Directors with confidence. The task of ensuring Vebego’s continuity is in good hands with my brother Ronald and Steph. They have a good vision of the direction that the company needs to take.” Ton Goedmakers’ children are now involved in the company too. “It’s good to see that the next generation is willing and able to continue the tradition.” Ton Goedmakers jr. is now a director in Switzerland and Suzanne Goedmakers is Secretary to the Board. 


Vebego International
